On 29 Nov. 2018 H.E. Mr. Cherdkiat Atthakor, Ambassador of Thailand to Kenya and Permanent Representative of Thailand to UN-Habitat presented to the Executive Director of UN-Habitat a token contribution from the Royal Thai Government in support of UN-Habitat's community-based solid waste management carried out in Kisii Municipality of Kenya, where high-level representatives of the Kisii Municipality and Kenyan Government were also represented. This project has engaged local youth groups to better manage solid waste generated by their community and equipped them with the capacity to upcycle recyclable plastics. It does not only address solid waste management problem but also generates income for youth groups on the community.
